Day 2: In Kolkata
After breakfast visit St. Paul’s Cathedral which was consecrated in 1847. It is a tall white Gothic building with a stained glass window by Burne Jones.After that visit Missionary Centre of Mother Teresa, Goddess Kali Temple (Dakshineshwar Kali Temple), built in 1847, on the banks of the Hooghly, north of Kolkata. After lunch visit Victoria Memorial which is a massive domed building of white marble from Rajasthan. It was inaugurated in 1921 by the prince of Wales. Then visit Indian Museum, established on 2nd Feb 1814. The museum is particularly famous for its zoological and geological collections. Also visit Botanical Garden, the oldest in the country. The main attraction is the 250 year old banyan tree with nearly 2,000 aerial roots, making it the largest tree of its kind in the world.
